Fluidride Cup #3 Mt. Hood, OR June 26th-28th 2009 ~By Joy Mutoli Photo's by Carl Warren
Ethan, Joy, Kaylin and Sprocket (the newest family member- chocolate lab puppy) went to Mt. Hood for the 3rd race of the Fluidride Cup series. This would be the first time back on there bikes since the last race in April. The race course had a new section in the lower woods that offered steep tight turns and a couple new drops. The weather was warm and the course held up fairly well up until the qualifiers and experts raced. The top of the course was very blown out with random bolder rocks in several spots making it difficult to stay off the brakes. Ethan put together a clean qualifier and then shaved off 3 seconds for his race run finishing 11th. Joy took it easy on her qualifier and tried out a couple new lines she spotted while watching the pro men go off. She bettered her race run time by 16 seconds but was very disappointed with her fitness level and would have liked to have had more gas for the pedal sections. She finished 3rd. All in all it was a fun weekend. Kaylin got to ride on the alpine slides a couple times and made some new friends of her own. It's great to see so many more families coming out for the races.
